Write a Prayer-a-Day Project

Morning electric dawns, crimson and blue, to light our imaginations and compel us forward.  Each day is a life in microcosm, with stages of birth, growth, adaptation, acceptance, and rest.  May we live each day as we would live our lives, harmoniously, prosperously, with deep gratitude and undying faith.  May we groove on each day’s rhythm, stepping into the cosmic dance that is all.  It will not preempt us from suffering, nor negate our sorrows, but rather will instruct us how to move through them with grace.  For this dance we are ever grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

A prayer of thanks, for all that we take for granted.  For all that is given without request of recompense.  For simple acts of kindness.  For the company of friends.  For the support of family.  For all that is good, which is almost everything, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May our blessings become manifest today, rewarding us with grace and gratitude.  May we find that we have everything we need, beginning with ourselves.  May help be close at hand, and may we recognize that love is abundant.  All this is so because we have made it so, in our daily recreation.  We begin again, and we are grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

For that which is new, and that which is familiar;

For that which is frightening, and that which is comforting;

For that which is easy, and that which is challenging;

For those who we know, and those who are strangers;

For that which is safe, and that which is dangerous;

For creating anew, and for tearing down the old;

For certainty, and for doubt;

For all that we are each and every day, and for all that we are called to do, let us embrace the fullness of it All, and celebrate.  Our revels may be small and solemn, they may be loud and boisterous, it matters not – it is all prayer, and for this we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

It is said charity begins at home.  If we deconstruct ‘charity’ we quickly find that it is more than giving money to a worthy cause.  Charity is ultimate benevolence, rooted in compassion.  It is pure good will, constructive rather than destructive.  And if charity begins at home, then we must first offer charity to ourselves.  Charity is at the heart of our humanity, both a universal adhesive and an emollient.  If we perfect our charity on ourselves, it can not but help to spread into our daily practice of living.  Let it be so.  We are thankful for Charity.  Blessed Be, and Amen,.

Change is constant, therefore let us embrace it.  It is unsettling, the unknown, and yet to be unsettled means we are moving, we are growing.  Embrace the discomfort and evolve!  It is our way, and we must follow it.  Look around and know that everyone we see are experiencing the same thing, and share our fears.  Let that be the impetus to reach out, to connect.  Let us move forward together.  For a shared journey we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Fortune smiles on us, for we are blessed in abundance.  Let us exploit the resources of generosity, compassion, and loving action, for they are truly limitless.  Individually we may feel drained on occasion, even daily, of such assets, but as a universal collective they can not be depleted.  We have an obligation to each other to share our spiritual collateral, that our coffers may overflow.  May we, this day, give and give and give until we have wealth beyond belief.  For spiritual philanthropy we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May today be ordinary in every way: may the sun rise as usual.  May we draw breath.  May the leaves fall.  May our telephones ring.  May people come and go.  May the surgery be a success.  May the car start.  May the rain know to fall.  May the cat stretch its back.  May we fall in love.  In other words, may the ordinary miracles of everyday occur.  For miracles we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May we be present in our presence, receiving as a present.  In prayer, words are tricky, as they are simply place markers for the unspeakable, the unknowable, that which defies labeling.  How then are we to express ourselves, spiritually speaking?  Through practice.  Through action.  Through kindness.  Through compassion.  Through listening.  And most of all with love.  Life is an ongoing prayer, struggling to lift up the divine.  For our daily prayers we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Play, Rejoice, and be Glad this day, simply because we can.  Mourn when we must, work when we should, and let the rest be Celebration.  This is our prayer, and we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.
