Write a Prayer-a-Day Project

The complexity of All is unfathomable, and as we are part of the All, we too are unfathomable.  In the course of our lives we barely begin to know ourselves, let alone each other.  In order to bring Love into the world, we must begin by loving ourselves,  This can be a tricky proposition, considering we know our own foibles and dark places better than anyone.  And therein is the complexity.  We are, each of us, marvelous beings, beautiful creatures.  Our beauty lies in our complexity, and our complexity is a blend of all we are, good and bad, thoughtful and petty.  To accept this is not to indulge our less attractive qualities, but rather to own them, take responsibility for them, and know that they are part of who we are.  And we ARE magnificent.  For Us we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

A prayer for stamina and continuance, for diversity within continuity, and for tranquility in the storm of life.  May we find the means to ride the wave, may we come to a place of acceptance with integrity.  We face each day anew, free to choose, responsible for our actions.  May we find our inner resources, and make the most of what is offered, and be grateful once again that we were born, and have the Opportunity.  We are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

A simple prayer of Hope, as it is a precious resource.  Whether it is limitless has yet to be determined; that it can be in short supply is certain.  And yet, conservation may not be the solution.  Hope begets Hope, just as Love begets Love.  Certainty of outcomes gives way to Faith in the face of despair.  Inherent worth, trust, compassion – all reside in Hope.  May we each find our Hope & Faith today, and wear them as the uniform of the revolution.  Viva la Humanity!  For Hope we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May we be present enough to recognize our blessings, and humble enough to accept them.  May they foster in us infinite gratitude, and charge us to pay them forward.  Whether they be great or small, these blessings are Life – may we not ignore them.  For all this we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Our prayers become repetitive as our practice deepens: this is because our lives are repetitive, as are our concerns.  We live on a vast, unfathomable continuum, a great cosmic wheel.  Our problems are never completely resolved – they are merely negotiated for a time.  This is not a regrettable state, however: it is simply big truth, which we can either accept or deny.  Denial is what will spiral us into despair.  Acceptance enables us to live more fully through each moment, whether it is a challenge or a joy.  Today may we be assured that we have everything we need to be wholly realized, that we are together, and that it is good.  For this acceptance we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May our burdens be bearable today, as we continue on the journey of our lives.  There are many days when it feels as if the weight will finally grind us down.  These are the times for small steps and little blessings.  These are the times to look into the eyes of our friends.  These are the times breathe, to shake out our shoulders, and center ourselves.  We will find, at the end of the day, that our anxiety was for naught, that the world goes on, and we can be happy.  For our small victories we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Authenticity often seems a luxury we can’t afford; the spiritual path suggests the opposite is true.  Our only hope for salvation in this life begins by being true to ourselves, and then emanating this authenticity outward.  Conformity is a powerful force – let us conform by speaking in our purest voice.  We will find happiness more readily, and by extension we will spread our love and compassion in ever widening circles.  This is the Divine Mandate, our spiritual charge.  For this holy Prime Directive we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Let us join together today those that were separate into one.  Let us recognize our universal oneness, celebrating our interconnectedness.  Today we ritualize two becoming one; in prayer we sanctify this Truth each and every day.  Creating peace and harmony is more easily realized when we recognize we are all One.  May this day bring us closer to understanding, compassion, and connection.  Gratitude is feeling our connection, and for this we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

A prayer for warmth against the cold;

For shelter from the storm;

For safety from danger;

For friends found everywhere;

For simple pleasures;

For destinies fulfilled;

For challenges accepted;

For peace of mind and spirit.

We are all worthy, we are all blessed, and we are all together.  For this we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Let us pray today for the ability to recognize the absurdity in our lives.  May we find humor and brevity amid the pressure and challenges we encounter daily.  A sense of humor is a virtue on par with compassion and gratitude.  Being able to laugh at our mistakes or lighten the mood in a stressful situation is an effective way to defuse tension, and help others feel better about themselves and their environment.  I think Jesus even said, “blessed are the joke makers.”  It is our sacred charge to take a karmic pie in face, or to spray seltzer into the pants of divinity.   For grace through humor we give a wacka wacka.  Blessed Be, and Amen.
