Write a Prayer-a-Day Project

May we be open to wonder and mystery, the central truth of existence.  May it steer our hearts and guide our actions.  May it join us to all and to each as we find our universal essence.  May it ease our burdens and increase our joy, as we know all is shared.  May we find comfort and security knowing we are so un-alone.  May we Be love and peace in holy truth and fulfillment.  For Ultimacy as well as intimacy we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Today as we rise and shine, we consider the multiple ways that we polish the veneer of our selves.  We can attempt a new finish, working the surface to remove blemishes and imperfections, and apply a high gloss, so that we shine and radiate.  Or, we can instead care for the finish that is there already, that has gained a richness and luster that is only achieved with time.  A finish such as this has depth and character that, while not as shiny as the original, cannot be achieved without time and experience.  There is beauty in such as this that is only known through wisdom and care.  So rise and shine!  Wipe off the dust, care for the work, and let the world see just how beautiful we are.  For depth and character we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Refresh, renew & rejoice!  Life begins again, and we are present and processing.  May we move with purpose and joy, love and gratitude.  The way will not always be easy, but may we remember we are everything we need to sustain and flourish.  Our prayer today: thank you.  For this day we are grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Today is the day!  Now is the time!  ‘For what?’ we may ask.  The answer to that is the reason to get up each morning.  We are called to look around with wide and grateful eyes.  We are compelled to engage the world with open minds, and more importantly with open hearts.  We do not know who or what we will encounter each day, but we can be prepared to receive and process it.  Let us be excited by each new day, in spite of the challenges we may face.  For each day is opportunity anew to praise and bless, to love and laugh, to receive and give.  This is so, and we are grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May today spark our imagination and give rise to amazing invention.  There is no limit to what we can accomplish, unless we place those limits there ourselves.  So let us invent the splendid worlds of our dreams.  Let us make them delicious, whimsical, full of magic and color.  And once created, let us bring each other in, that we may make the celebration complete, by surrounding and imbuing our world with love.  For imagination we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

What shall we pray for today?  Shall we pray for strength, or endurance?  Shall we pray for comfort, or for peace?  Perhaps contemplative prayers are in order, or perhaps our prayers call us to action.  We may pray to see something beautiful, or we may pray for healing.  We may pray for our friends who are struggling, or we may pray away our own personal demons.  It matters not for what we pray; it matters only that we pray.  So today, I shall pray to be Batman.  For prayer we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

What are we to do?  Who are we called to be?  How do we create peace and justice?  Life’s big questions come with no easy answer, perhaps because life itself is the big question.  The secret to fulfillment may very well lie in embracing uncertainty and accepting doubt.  It certainly may make the path easier.  Let us foster our self-confidence in the knowledge that we cannot know it all, that revelation is an ongoing process, and that uncertainty is the norm rather than the exception.  Let us also continue to ask the big questions, for the quest of wisdom is the zest of life.  For our inherent inquisitiveness we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May we find new confidence along our path today.  May we be secure in our skills and use them to maximum efficiency.  We are challenged to be productive, and yet the metrics of evaluation are unclear.  Productivity can be measured in many ways.  We must remain true to ourselves while at the same time rising to the expectations of others.  Humility and honesty are our watchwords.  May we live into the fullness of each moment.  For ourselves and all our gifts we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

May this day bring relief from oppression in its many forms.  May we know the comfort of stress removed.  Endurance and resilience are tested daily, and we sometimes lose heart, feel challenged to continue.  Let us seek to find alternative means of sustenance in the drought of doubt.  Let us breathe deep, square our shoulders, wipe our brow, and continue.  Sweetness and contentment await us if we merely endure.  For strength and fortitude we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen. 

As we drift along, may we remember and anticipate.  Where we have been and where we are headed are entirely different places that are exactly the same.  Yesterday and tomorrow are inexplicably wrapped up in today.  Our child selves and our elderly personas are here inside of us right now.  Let us not be haunted by our pasts, and let us not dread our futures.  Rather, let us be here now, for it is All, it is Us, and it is a present.  For this moment we are thankful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.
