Write a Prayer-a-Day Project

Awake!  Awake, and Rejoice at the myriad of miracles that greet you each day!  A rising sun; a singing bird; a tree rustling in the breeze; the din of humanity.  It is all a wonder, and its existence is no more likely or assured than a flying horse or a talking mirror.  You and I, we are small parts of the universe that woke up!  The greatest miracle is our awareness of this vast field of forms and colors and smells and feelings and hurts and disappointments and pleasure!  So Rejoice!  Rejoice!  Awake, and Rejoice!  For the Miracle of our Lives, we are eternally grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Great Spirit, in whose image we recognize each other, we are bound up in our everyday lives .  We work hard to do our jobs with integrity.  We are mindful in tending our relationships with intention.  We strive to grow in love and learn in action.  And we are fallible, and we are clumsy, and we are insensitive.  Forgiveness is a state of Grace.  We should hope for forgiveness, but not ask for it.  For it must be given with true spirit and high intention.  And it likewise should be received with humility and gratitude.  For the many blessings in our lives, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Our bodies are the universe made present in our immediate experience, infinite and intimate at once.  And as the universe is manifest in many forms, so too are we.  Each of us have unique abilities, and we have our limitations.  No two bodies will ever be precisely alike: praise be our diversity!  And when we experience sickness or wasting, may we take comfort in knowing that we are the universe, and we will go on in the perpetual cosmic dance that is God.  For our corporal being, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Universal Love, you bless each day with compassion, forgiveness, and healing.  All strife, war, misunderstanding and conflict arise when we lose connection with you.  Move in this day as a gentle breeze, that you might rustle our understanding.  Move in this day as a singing bird, that you might serenade us back into being.  Move in this day as a kind stranger, that we might be reminded of you presence in everyone we meet.  For your Grace and Compassion, we are truly grateful.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Sovereign of Energy, you are the infinitude of the universe.  You flow through us in a constant conversation of animation.  You give form to the world we inhabit, which in turn informs our thoughts and intentions.  You are the Breath of Life in our children, in our lovers, and in those with whom we find ourselves in discord.  May this day our actions be swift, our purposes be righteous, and our hearts be open, that we would recognize You in the All that is Us.  For this, our daily bread, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Great and Infinite Soul, you are the eyes of the ages, and you listen with the heart of eternity.  We each of us struggle to be seen, are shouting to be heard.  We want to be known.  In a sudden and unexpected moment, we may catch a glimpse of ourselves through the eyes of another, and we are startled at the stranger that is revealed.  Knowing ourselves honestly, in all of our shortcomings and with all of our gifts, is the deepest spiritual work we can do.  In gratitude for our inner eyes and ears, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Mystery of Life, Maker and Made, we traverse our living experience with wonder, with awe, with dread, with trepidation, with delight.  To live with Grace is to strike a balance and harmony in navigating this journey.  Enlightenment is to live into our interconnectedness without misappropriating the life path of others.  May we be each others sign post on the journey.  For this pilgrimage and for the pilgrims, we give thanks.  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Today, this day, is unique and unrepeatable.  There has never before, since time immemorial, been exactly this day.  Never again, for the rest of time, will there be a day such as this.  We, each of us, are unique and unrepeatable manifestations of Life, and the Who we are today is not the Who we were yesterday, nor the Who we will be tomorrow.  May we take delight and wonder in every nuance of the Who, What, and Where we encounter today, and therein find the Why of our Lives.  For the uniqueness of the Now, we give thanks and praise!  Blessed Be, and Amen.

All great and powerful Spirit of Life, you are known by many names, and one of those is Change.  We are swept along in your wake, float on your breath, frolic in your dreams.  You routinely unsettle us: sometimes like a ripple in a calm lake; other times like anchored ships in a hurricane.  We pray this day that you treat us with Love and Compassion, and take us to the place we need to be, where we belong.  For our new opportunities we rejoice!  Blessed Be, and Amen.

Family of Life, we recognize and celebrate our inter-connectedness.  Relationship is everything, and the energy we daily give in relating to one another is sacred.  It is not always easy or pleasant to interact with each other.  Remind us this day, and in all our days, that you are my sister, you are my brother, and in spite of our differences, I love you.  By loving one another, we are loving ourselves, and by loving ourselves, we love God into Being.  Blessed Be, and Amen.
