Write a Prayer-a-Day Project

The landscape of our human emotions is vast and varied.  In some places, there are deep, lush forests;  others are rich and abundant fertile land; and there are the less hospitable climes as well – arid deserts and frozen tundra.  It is easy to walk the grassy fields of ‘I love you,’ engaging to swim in the lakes of ‘let’s work together.’  Far more difficult is the glacial ‘I am ashamed,’ the burning sands of ‘I’ve let myself down.’  In our continual exploration of this universe of thoughts, feelings, and actions, may we have the undaunted courage to say ‘I’m sorry,’ and ‘forgive me.’  With eyes and hearts wide open, we say Amen.

Circle of Life, your dance is intricate and complex.  The dancer studies, practices, perfecting their skill.  But skill alone is not enough; a creative spirit is required to transform the dance from mere activity into art.  Grant us the poet’s soul, the dancer’s passion, that we may elevate our living, and transform it into Grace.  For the sacred art of living, we give thanks and praise.  Blessed be, and Amen.

Spirit of Life, guide us through this day.  Our individual trials and tribulations are insignificant to the Universal Mind, but they loom large in our daily living, and inhibit us from being our most authentic selves.  Give us patience, wisdom, and determination to live and to love into each moment.  For the opportunities we will find this day, we are truly grateful.  Blessed be, and Amen.

The universe is in us – the carbon and other elements that make up each of us was created in a massive star.  We are the recycled matter of the All.  And yet, we are all uniquely abled, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.  The delight in living is in our differences, and so we must rejoice in them.  For our individuality, even in our oneness, we give thanks, and say namaste, and Amen.

Praise to the Maker as well as the Made, for they are one and the same!  Rejoice in the miracle of waking, of walking, of sensing, and of being sensed.  As we process through this day, may we take delight in all the details and nuances we encounter, and hold them sacred.  For our minds and our souls we give thanks.  Blessed be, and Amen.

Unity and Universe are one, and all.  It is an arc, a spiral, a helix that transcends time and space.  Each of our lives is a small curve of it.  We are connected with each other, and with all those that have come before us, and with all those that are yet to be.  What we do at this moment in “time” matters.  May we, this day, this moment, find presence and guidance to recognize our own divinity, that we may do something good, yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  In gratitude for the miracle that is this moment, we say Amen.

Mother Earth, Father Sky, we are One, the holy family.  When one is hurt, all are hurt.  When one rejoices, all rejoice.  We share hunger, fear, uncertainty, anxiety, and despair.  In equal measure we share love, compassion, support, and affirmation.  May I, this day, love and support myself, and do myself healing and comfort, that in turn, I do these also unto my brothers and sisters.  For my great and infinite family, I give thanks.  Namaste, blessed be, and Amen.

The universe is vast and beyond true apprehension. And yet, it speaks to us in whispers, opening to us if we quiet our minds, open our hearts, and love ourselves into being. May we have the courage to do the work that needs to be done, and the senses prepared to recognize and receive the message. For these tools and gifts, we give thanks. Blessed be, and Amen.

Universal mind, who conspires to challenge me; Universal heart, who delights to inspire me – give me the strength, the courage, and the gratitude to navigate both the obstacles and opportunities inherent in this day. May I recognize each in turn, and respond always with my best self. Blessed be, and Amen.

The Universe is vast and incomprehensible; and yet we are part of the its Unity. The distance between each of us is vast and incomprehensible, and yet we are all one. May we find the strength and faith to bridge the distances in our lives, and connect with ourselves on the other side. Amen.
